When life gives you lemons, Marylee and Chad certainly have an excellent recipe for lemonade! The original date for their rustic barn wedding at Bridle Oaks had to be postponed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, but they made the best of it. They even lucked out enough to have their new date of July 5th on Chad’s favorite holiday weekend! (Keep your eyes peeled for surprise American flags…)
You know we are suckers for a first look alternative. Marylee and Chad chose to do a first touch before their rustic barn wedding ceremony. We found the cutest little corner for them to have a quiet moment alone before they exchanged vows.
Marylee’s favorite moment of the day:
When we met for a first touch and hearing his voice and holding his hand without seeing him….. the feeling it gave me ….was NOTHING I can put into words except “home.” Nothing else mattered but that moment.
It really is so special when our couples get to share a moment alone before they officially tie the knot. We get to see all the nerves and worries melt away and be totally taken over by a sense of calm and happiness.
Chad’s favorite moment of the day:
To see my future wife’s face when she was coming down the aisle knowing in just a few minutes she was gonna be my wife!!
See?! We told you there’d be some American flags!
The feeling of “home” was a theme of their rustic barn wedding. Chad and Marylee danced to “Feels Like Home” by Chantal Kreviazuk. Marylee also shared emotional dances with both of her sons to “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban (*cue the waterworks*). There was not a dry eye in the house and you could tell that this marriage was a beautiful blending of two families.
One of our favorite parts of the day was a rather impromptu gathering of the guests who had stayed to the end of the reception. Right after Marylee and Chad ran through the sparkler tunnel of their loved ones, their closest friends and family started telling stories of how the newlyweds met and other fun memories they have of them. It was totally unplanned and gave us a deeper look into the love Chad and Marylee share. Marylee certainly followed her own advice for bride’s planning now…
Enjoy the moment…
If this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that enjoying the moment and appreciating the love and light we do have is everything!
