Tucked away, down the backroads of Lake County is an iconic Southern estate. Many know it as the “Christmas House” as people travel for miles to see the incredible light displays during holidays. Surrounded by rolling hills, massive oak trees, and surprise sheep guests, Amber and Garret exchanged their vows in the sunshine at their Cottom Farm wedding. Their yellow and blue color palette was a compliment to the perfect spring day. Everything just seemed to fall into place flawlessly for these two and we were lucky to capture it all!
There were lots of furry friends running around at Cottom Farm. When we arrived at the venue, there was a frantic little sheep pacing outside his pen. We later found out that he is their resident escape artist. If you follow us on Instagram you may have seen our behind the scenes story of Cat trying to persuade him back to his home. We do a lot of random tasks on wedding days, but sheepherding was a first for even us! :P
One of their DIY projects for their Cottom Farm wedding was the charm that was tied to the bride’s bouquet. The charm was a remembrance of the bride’s late father so that he could be with her wherever she went on her wedding day. The flowers were shipped all the way from Texas and then designed by Garret’s step-grandma and her daughter. We loved these thoughtful and colorful additions to their day.
Both Amber and Garret’s favorite parts of the day were from their ceremony. Garret’s favorite part of the day was seeing Amber walk down the aisle and Amber’s favorite was hearing Garret’s vows. They had their officiant, Aaron Baum, read their vows for them because neither of them thought they’d make it through; still the tears flowed!
Amber surprised her mom with a mother-daughter dance to “Momma” by Carrie Underwood which had both of us so teared up we could barely see to take pictures!
Amber’s advice to bride’s planning their weddings now is,
Don’t stress over the small details, you don’t even see them yourselves hardly. Make lists!!
We couldn’t agree more, especially on the day of! That’s your time to see all of your hard work come to fruition surrounded by your family and friends. Amber and Garret’s Cottom Farm wedding was filled with love and light, and we were so honored to be able to capture it for them. Here’s to seeing where the race track that is life takes you two! ;)
